Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI object detector work?โ–ผ
It uses DETR (Detection Transformer), a model from Facebook Research fine-tuned on the COCO dataset, running locally in your browser via WebAssembly. DETR combines a convolutional backbone with a Transformer encoder-decoder to detect objects and draw precise bounding boxes โ€” no server-side processing required.
What kinds of objects can it detect?โ–ผ
The model is trained on the COCO dataset and can recognize 80 common object categories including people, animals (cats, dogs, birds), vehicles (cars, buses, bicycles), furniture, food, electronics, sports equipment, and more.
Is my image uploaded to any server?โ–ผ
No โ€” everything runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly. Your image never leaves your device, making this tool 100% private and usable even without an internet connection after the model is cached.
Why does it only show some objects?โ–ผ
The detector applies a confidence threshold of 50% โ€” only detections where the model is at least 50% confident are shown. This filters out false positives. Objects that are very small, heavily occluded, or unusual angles may score below this threshold and be omitted.
