What the QR Code Generator does
This tool turns a piece of information — a website link, some text, an email address, a phone number or a WiFi login — into a scannable QR code that any modern phone camera can read. You fill in the details, the code is drawn live in your browser, and you can download it as a PNG image or a crisp SVG vector ready for print. Nothing is sent to a server, so even sensitive data like a WiFi password stays on your device.
QR codes are everywhere now: on posters and business cards, restaurant menus, product packaging, event tickets and shop windows. Generating your own lets you bridge the physical and digital world without paying for a subscription service.
Static codes and error correction
The codes produced here are static, meaning the data is encoded directly into the pattern. They never expire, need no hosting and will keep working for as long as QR codes exist — unlike 'dynamic' codes from some paid services that stop working if you cancel.
Error correction is what lets a QR code still scan when it is scratched, smudged or partly covered by a logo. Four levels are available: L recovers about 7% of the code, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%. For anything printed, choose a higher level so the code survives real-world wear; for clean on-screen use, a lower level keeps the pattern simpler.
Tips for reliable scanning
Keep a quiet zone (clear margin) around the code and make sure there is strong contrast between the dark pattern and its background. For print, download the SVG version or use at least 300–400 pixels, and never print smaller than about 2cm by 2cm. Test the finished code with a couple of different phones before you commit it to a large print run.
