How the conversions are calculated
Most units convert by a fixed ratio to a common base — for example, metres for length or grams for weight — so the tool multiplies your value by the right factor and divides into the target unit. These factors are the standard international definitions, giving results accurate to several decimal places before display rounding.
Temperature is the exception. Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin do not share a zero point, so they cannot be converted by simple multiplication. The converter applies the proper formulas (such as °F = °C × 9/5 + 32) so the answers are correct rather than approximate.
