Date Difference Calculator
Find the exact difference between two dates in days, weeks, months, and more.
What the Date Difference Calculator does
This tool measures the gap between any two dates and expresses it in several units at once: total days, weeks, months, years, hours, minutes, seconds, and even business days. Rather than forcing you to do mental arithmetic across month boundaries and leap years, it lays out every common way of describing the same span of time.
It is useful for counting down to a deadline, working out how long ago something happened, planning project timelines, tracking anniversaries, or checking how many working days fall between two dates for payroll or scheduling purposes.
How to use it
Choose a start date and an end date using the two date pickers. The order does not matter, because the calculator always measures the absolute distance between the dates, so you will never get a negative result.
Click "Use today" next to the end date to quickly compare a past date with the current day. Results update immediately and are shown as a grid of cards, one for each unit of measurement.
Understanding the results
The total days, hours, minutes, and seconds are calculated from the raw time difference between the two dates. Weeks are simply the day count divided by seven, while the years-and-months figure is derived from the calendar months between the dates so it lines up with how people normally describe long durations.
The business days figure counts only Monday through Friday and ignores weekends, which makes it a quick estimate of working days. Note that it does not subtract public holidays, since those vary by country and region, so treat it as a starting point for scheduling.
