What the QR code reader does
This tool decodes the content stored inside a QR code from an image you already have, no camera required. Upload a screenshot, a photo, or a saved QR image and it extracts the underlying data, whether that is a website link, plain text, a Wi-Fi configuration, contact details, a payment string, or any other text the code contains. It is useful when a QR code appears in an email, a PDF, a flyer photo, or a social media post and you want to see exactly where it leads before acting on it.
Reading happens completely inside your browser. The image is drawn onto a hidden canvas and decoded locally with the jsQR engine, so the picture you choose is never uploaded to any server. This makes it a safe way to inspect QR codes whose destination you do not yet trust.
How to read a QR code from an image
Click the drop zone to browse for a file, or drag and drop an image directly onto it. Any standard image format your browser supports works, including PNG, JPG, and WebP. Once the image loads, the tool scans it automatically and shows the decoded content below, along with a preview of the image you uploaded.
If the result is a web address, an Open URL link appears so you can review and visit it deliberately. You can also copy the decoded text to your clipboard with one click to paste it elsewhere. If no code is detected, try a sharper, higher-contrast image where the QR code is clearly visible and not cropped.
Getting the best results
Decoding accuracy depends on image quality. A clean, well-lit image where the QR code fills a good portion of the frame works best. Blurry photos, heavy glare, extreme angles, or codes that are partially cut off can prevent detection. If a scan fails, crop the image so the QR code is centered, increase the contrast, or use the original digital file instead of a re-photographed screen. Because everything runs locally, you can read codes even while offline once the page has loaded.
